We provide a safe welcoming drop-in centre and activities supporting basic life-skills to less-advantaged and vulnerable young people at our Youth cafe - @21 The Young Peoples’ Place.
Since March 2020, dependent on Covid-19 regulations we have run -
• An emergency contact phone line to allow our young people to speak to a professional youth worker about any concerns
• Detached working sessions with two youth workers walking around the town making contact with youngsters to allow them face-to-face support.
• A series of energetic outdoor activities to allow them social contact and to improve their mental and physical health and self-confidence.
• Sessions at our rented base with small, socially distanced, age-divided groups doing such as body image and bike maintenance
These activities allowed our youth workers to intervene to protect young people from serious harm on more than one occasion and have made a real difference to the physical and emotional health of many more isolated youngsters.
