DEFRA Educational Access visits are designed to provide one-day, free of charge learning experiences for schools, colleges, and learner groups. These visits offer participants the opportunity to:
• Learn about where food comes from, through hands-on involvement in planting, growing, and harvesting produce.
• Experience the workings of a real farm, including animal care, land management, and seasonal farming tasks.
• Understand the importance of conservation, sustainability, and the role farming plays in protecting the natural environment.
• Explore the links between farming, food production, and environmental stewardship, supporting curriculum learning in a practical, engaging, and meaningful way.
These visits aim to inspire curiosity, build knowledge, and promote greater connection to nature and the countryside, while supporting the development of life skills, responsibility, and environmental awareness in a supportive rural setting.
