Aims & Activities
Chase Aqua Rural Enterprise (CARE) provides community mental health, mindfulness and wellbeing support, and vocational skills training and development for vulnerable young adults (18+) and older adults of all ages, abilities and needs.
CARE is based in a peaceful, countryside farm setting in Penkridge where everyone is made welcome, respected, and supported as individuals. Our positive, therapeutic activities and individual support helps build self-confidence, self-esteem, social skills and encourages sharing with others who may have similar needs. A creative approach combined with practical skills helps build positive life changes and sustainable improvement to personal wellbeing. CARE works closely with community health partners and local mental health support networks, from referral to information sharing and signposting/IAG.
Positive, therapeutic activities – The Five Ways to Wellbeing is embedded across all activities, including: • animal care (chickens, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, baby lambs) and animal assisted therapy - embracing the 'five freedoms' which ensure we meet the basic mental and physical needs of animals in our care – these transfer readily across to our own needs. • flower and veggie gardening and growing projects in garden growing spaces, raised beds, allotments and polytunnel. All are centred around healthy eating/lifestyle and all produce is sampled and sent home. • arts and crafts, including watercolour painting, printing, ceramic and glass art, wire sculpture, pyrography, clay modelling, green crafts and photography • practical activities – woodwork, woodcraft, forestry and conservation, garden landscaping projects e.g., building raised beds • Health & Fitness – walking in our wildlife trail and fishing Our delivery style is creative, flexible, and adaptable to suit the needs of individuals, to support and provide gentle encouragement, and to ensure participation, retention, and positive outcomes for everyone.
